Selection. TakeLessons offers lessons in over 50 instruments and styles in over 400 cities and towns throughout the USA. We’ve carefully selected and certified our TakeLessons instructors to ensure our customers get a first class experience. Our programs are tailored to the customers skill set and experience levels. Beginners are always welcome – no matter how old or young you are. We like to say “Any Age, Any Stage”.

Safety. Of course, any time that you’re spending time with an instructor, or inviting someone into your home, you want to make sure that the instructor is safe. Each month, over 1,500 instructors apply to work for TakeLessons, and we work with just the top 5-10%. TakeLessons only hires instructors that pass a rigorous certification process, which includes educational background, teaching experience, references, a criminal background check and more.. Each year, they must be re-certified in order to continue teaching with us. After they are hired, TakeLessons instructors are continuously monitored with a Quality Score based on feedback from students and internal measurements of quality, character, and professionalism. Each instructor must maintain a certain Quality Score or they are simply removed from the program. It’s tough to be a TakeLessons instructor, but this ensures a safe and rewarding learning experience for our customers. We search for the best instructors so you don’t have to.

Sophistication. TakeLessons has a strong background in Internet technology and software development. We’re basically geeks. And we’ve applied our knowledge to the lessons industry to create the most robust lessons experience in the nation called the TakeLessons S.T.A.R. Program™. The S.T.A.R. Program bridges Internet technology with the personal touch of local private lessons. Our software includes online personal Practice Pages and a Lessons Success Journal where our students and instructors set their music goals and track their progress. Lessons are recorded through web cams and permanently archived online so students can always review what their instructor taught them. Finally, students get to participate in TakeLessons Show What You Know Concerts™ where students get to perform their favorite songs in front of a live audience in a true concert venue.
