ABOUT US

1. What issue will your venture address? 


The greatest barrier to access of capital and sustained growth for non-profits today is lack of donor trust. Due to financial mismanagement scandals and an overall disregard for transparency by organizations, the everyday donor’s confidence in the sector is at an all-time low.

Donors often do not have a good idea of the specific impact of their contributions. As a result, they are hesitant to donate frequently or pass the word on to friends, curtailing the life value of the donor. The non-profit and social entrepreneurship sectors are growing in size, and Americans still lead the world in charitable donations, but lack of trust is a serious problem when it comes to sustaining growth and maximizing impact.

2. Why are YOU pursuing this specific issue? 


We, as students, have experienced both sides of this problem. As frequent donors, we know what it’s like to be kept in the dark about the impact of our contributions. As students of social entrepreneurship, we have repeatedly heard non-profit leaders discuss the constant dearth in trust and capital. We strongly believe that both sides deserve more, and that a larger impact during our generation is possible with our model.

Our team is composed of motivated, connected individuals, varied in our business, artistic, and social talents but united in our passion to change our world—now. As students, we have a unique understanding of what it takes to reach the socially-aware population and cater to its desires for customization.

3. How will your venture solve this problem?

RE:action Strategy Group aims to counter this trend works with non-profits and social entrepreneurs to completely reinvent the donor experience. With an emphasis and specialization in transparency and results-based marketing, RE:action helps organizations communicate, to donors, the impact resulting from their donations—in essence, a feedback loop. The team recommends innovative, customized strategies such as social networking, photos, videos, and events and provides execution support.

We have also begun independently working on a Yelp-like charity review website, with a focus on donor experience rating. Ratings will be generated by the public only, with a goal of stimulating widespread demand for transparency.

The result of our work is a strengthened relationship between the donor and the organization: client NGOs experience higher access to capital and sustained growth due to newfound trust, and donors are rewarded with much-deserved transparency. Consequently, the cause receives more funding and benefit. It’s our idea of the ultimate win-win-win: a new experience in giving.
