ABOUT US
What are we working towards?
Individuals in developing countries often lack access to sustainable income generating opportunities that provide them a way to earn a living. Our technology connects companies in the developed world who have work, to individuals that want access to opportunities in developing countries. Today, online crowdsourcing marketplaces like Amazon’s Mechanical Turk and LiveWork, provide a way for thousands of individuals to work on simple tasks for companies interested in outsourcing their business work to the most cost effective providers in the world. Existing services however, are limited in the complexity of tasks that can be outsourced effectively, at quality levels comparable to in house skilled labor. With our technology, we’re building a layer of intelligence that sits on top of existing crowdsourcing platforms to provide a way for business users to outsource open ended and complex business tasks while still achieving quality parity and significantly lower costs for their work.
What is our solution?
Our technology expands the potential of crowdsourcing by adding intelligent software that sits on top of crowdsourcing services to allow users to perform more complex tasks. We provide a set of tools that helps users break down complex business tasks, into discrete units that can successfully be completed on a large crowdsourcing platform or through integration with existing outsourcing providers. From there, Penda applies a combination of statistical tools and quality control methods designed to ensure that high quality results are returned to users. Using our technology companies can track the quality of individual workers, assign specific workers to selected tasks, and use statistical process control methods to monitor and ensure high quality work from crowdsourced tasks.
Why do we care?
Penda is deeply passionate about how we can develop market competitive ways to provide opportunities to individuals in developing countries. We’ve spent extensive time in newly industrializing regions around the world, having worked and traveled in Kenya, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan and other countries, all of us have a strong desire to improve the livelihoods of individuals living in the developing world. Penda provides us the chance to implement a highly scalable, profit generating business that also provides high impact value for our customers and delivers a tangible social return for our beneficiaries. As a team with extensive backgrounds in science and engineering, Penda also provides a way for us to leverage technology in innovative ways to achieve those results.
