ABOUT US
The Mano en Mano Foundation will address the extreme poverty in the Western Hemisphere such as in places like Haiti and Nicaragua, the 1st and 2nd most impoverished countries in the region. It will focus on what can be so difficult for other foundations to achieve: not only using 100% of donations towards the cause, but also knowing exactly how and where it’s going. It gives an updated account on how, for example, a sponsored student is doing in school, and gives an option on whether or not to reward the student to keep up their motivation. In other words, you could develop a direct connection with who you’re helping and how in an interactive way.
My Dad is originally from a 3rd world country so after he exposed me and our family to extreme poverty I knew I had to do something active to help these people make a better future for themselves and for their families. This is an extremely passionate issue for me personally. After visiting Nicaragua for the first time, I decided to start an immersion trip through my high school that has successfully continued each year even after my graduation. After coming to college, I felt an immense desire to do something bigger, better, greater, and I believe I have the passion and experience behind me to make that happen. I am not the type of person who spends my vacations in Mexico or Europe, I take time off to visit Nicaragua any chance that I can get! These people need my help and the kindness and desperation I see in their eyes is the only inspiration I need.
By raising awareness of the poverty that exists in the Western Hemisphere, we hope to inspire people to become involved in a hands on way or provide help in fundraising efforts for educational scholarships, job training, medical and nutritional needs, and housing. After already having had 2 fundraisers to raise this awareness as well as gain funds, I know I have the confidence to make this be a great venture for those that are in need. Each fundraiser totaled over $3000 (in only several hours!), money that we were able to send directly to those that we have hired on our small but growing team in Nicaragua and in Haiti. It is imperative especially after the Haiti earthquake that my foundation receives the tools it needs to be able to help these people in any way possible.
