ABOUT US
- What issue will your venture address?
Social innovators in general (and students in particular) increasingly find themselves in need of skills, resources, and collaborators. These assets are abundant. The issue is that the individuals in need - especially those that are new to this form of community service - lack the awareness of their availability. More pressing however, is the fact that these assets are so poorly distributed - concentrated in clumps of elite/exclusive institutions (be they Universities, Foundations, Venture Capitalists, etc). Evolving Heroes facilitates the effective distribution, exchange, and flow of this value, and, as more and more projects gestate, accelerates the rate of global transformation.
- Why are YOU pursuing this specific issue?
We have attempted the start-up of several other social ventures - based and focused in Africa. Because of insufficient access to the relevant resources, and time-diverting academic commitments the incubation of these projects was slow, if at all. Creating a resource platform as a first step was a logical conclusion - based on our experience with incubating our own social ventures (as college students), we understand what the needs of other such students are, and the most effective way to cater to them.
- How will your venture address this issue?
Evolving Heroes creates an online support network that, through advanced social networking, data visualization and online collaboration tools, enables public skill-sharing and open-source social innovation. Offline, campus-based 'Heroes' chapters offer workshops that develop compassion and give skills training to optimize the value that each student brings to the table.
