Getting around a large campus such as the St. George Campus at the University of Toronto can take a long time and can be a real struggle for students who have to travel from one end to the other between back-to-back classes. The University of Toronto Entrepreneurial Society was approached with a marvelously novel idea to help combat this problem using a product that is perfect for the average university student: a lightweight folding bicycle.

These lightweight bicycles come in a range of wheel sizes, are completely legal to ride on the road and on the sidewalk, and require only a few short moments to go from completely folded to fully functional. These bikes are so small when folded that the members currently working on the project have managed to carry them into their classes, store them in residence rooms, carry them up and down flights of stairs and take them on the subway during rush-hour. Try doing that with a full-sized bike!

The Society is planning to help start this small venture that will sell the bikes to the local community, and use the proceeds from the bike sales to help fund our Social Initiatives. It is our first Commercial Venture, and as such, we are looking to gain a tremendous amount of experience. We are hoping this venture will work as a spring-board for more innovative ideas to come to light from around the community.
