Dubai has grown from a relatively Creek based city, to a sprawling metropolis of self sufficient communities, marina residences and beach front properties. New business districts have formed around Free Zones and an extensive choice of shopping Malls have surfaced, tailoring every need and requirement from high end retail to the more modest consumer. In order to facilitate the new population, the infrastructure in Dubai has become more sophisticated and a greater network of public transport is available from buses, water taxis, taxis and the metro.
