Ashager Inc.

Ashager is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) governed by a Board of Directors and IRS code 501 (C) (3). It was founded in 2004 in the state of California, USA as a non-profit organization by Samuel Z. Alemayehu and others.

Ashager is committed to empowering Ethiopia one project at a time. Comprised of people armed with intellectual prose and the spirit of compassion, Ashager aims to improve education and healthcare in Africa. In our first two years of operation, we provided software and wireless telemedical infrastructure to abridge the informational gap facing health professionals in remote hospitals of Ethiopia. We accomplished this through partnering with Stanford Technology Ventures Lab, Youth Venture, Coca Cola Scholars Foundation, Intel Clubhouse, and expertise from the Packard Foundation.

After winning semi-finalist at the Stanford Social-Entrepreneurship Challenge, Ashager worked closely with hospitals, educational institutions, and research laboratories in Addis Ababa and Jimma, Ethiopia. Our projects included: fully equipping electrical engineering labs and dental clinics, facilitating the donation of advanced textbooks to universities, partnering with Deloitte to fully equip a film school, and dissemination of used medical equipments. Most importantly, we provided resources for those who otherwise would not have the opportunity to learn and thrive. Ultimately, Ashager is about helping Africa from the ground up: we do not simply provide humanitarian aid, we empower the citizens with resources and education so they can rise up themselves.
