ABOUT US

This is an nonprofit startup that I am committed to working on and I already have 4 volunteers to work on various parts including the database and site design.

I want to create a website (which will be referred to from this point
on as adjicio.org) which will act much like ads.google.com works
except that the ads (normal company ads like dell, walmart, etc) you
choose to put on your site will solely benefit a nonprofit that you
specify. The ads would be normal company ads but I am thinking with a
frame around them to link to adjicio.org and explain how all the
revenue made goes to nonprofits.

That is, you log on to adjicio.org to get the ad code that you paste
on you site. Using your account name you can track how much the ads
you placed are making and choose, say, to benefit the red cross, or
50% red cross – 50% doctors without borders. Adjicio.org takes all the
money from everyones ads and distributes it accordingly to the
nonprofits people want.

The benefits of this system is that people give more (just throwing up
an ad on their site or company site seems so much easier and not at
all like you are losing/giving money). It is easier for taxes and your
own sake as you have never touched the money that your site made off
those ads, the money was never taxed and went straight to who you
wanted it to. Also, you can have rankings, stats, events, etc being
tracked as well. Site owners seem to have been quite willing to give
up space to help nonprofits, many sites have put banner links to
donate to Red Cross. My thought is that people would be willing to
donate some space especially if I made it easy and provided detailed
tracking/group/ranking functions on my site. Such a use of space could
potentially generate more money for nonprofits then the donate banners
do.

Ideally, Adjicio.org would deal with advertisers directly but that of
course requires a certain size to start happening. So to start off
initially I was going to just do it through google ad words, set up a
google account and have people use the google ad code given to put on
their site. Google would then be taking care of all the providing of
the ads and how much each site is making. The checks would come from
google then be sent off to the other nonprofits.

Now, there is nothing of this sort being done currently either as a
separate enterprise or as offered by providers of ads. However,
Missionfish.org has the same type of interface of accounts and
intercepting the money but is done for sellers on ebay who want the
proceeds to go to some charity. Missionfish has been very successful,
generating tens of millions of dollars as well as being integrated
into eBay. It seems to me that the same forces that drove the
popularity of that would be present for this idea.

Goodsearch.com is also similiar and succesful.
