- Creating/Managing Continuing Education Programs. Nursing staff in rural locations not able to access effective ongoing education options. Instituted series of in-service educational programs improving overall staff effectiveness and patient care in Cardiovascular OR.
- Establishing Creative Policy Solutions. Poorly-conceived controlled substance protocols were overly restrictive and threatened quality of healthcare in the CV operating room. Invented specialized lockbox system in CVOR for necessary drugs, meeting regulation standards but allowing fast access to emergency supplies. Quality of healthcare remained high while satisfying hospital administration.
- Retrofitting OR Design. Architectural design problems coupled with advances in robotics systems resulted in severe space issues in newly remodeled CVOR. Working with nursing staff and OR personnel, reconfigured room and equipment layout creating space for emergency equipment/supply storage, increasing safety and convenience.
