Stuart is currently Executive Director of Shell Livewire. In this role he has particular responsibility for marketing the program to a UK wide audience aged 16-30. In addition to this, he is also responsible for web development around the Livewire website. In the past he has been Business Support Manager at PNE, responsible for delivering the Business Support Service to clients. He has also provided the role of a professional business counsellor and consultant providing a wide range of advice to new start ups and SMEs in the region. Included in this work is advice to the social enterprise and not for profit sector around all key business issues, in particular fundraising and best practice. Stuart also undertakes a variety of projects such as feasibility studies and business planning for PNE clients. Stuart has a wealth of experience in fundraising for clients in both the mainstream business sector and not for profit sector including funding streams from central government, the EU and private funds (such as ERDF, ESF, SRB & NRF). He also is regularly involved in assessment work of business plans and funding applications.
Stuart has a keen interest in best practice in business and has undertaken research into business systems diagnosis, relationship marketing and organisational culture- particularly around the ‘learning organisation’ and organisational development. Much of this work has resulted in passing the knowledge on to small businesses to help them become more sustainable and competitive. He is an experienced researcher and can work with all types of data including qualitative and quantitative data and all kinds of research methodology.
