Simon Lichtenberg was educated in the Danish Tvind Universities and spent many years in Africa as an adolescent. After accomplishing Chinese language and Sinology trainings at Fudan University, in Shanghai in 1988, Simon Lichtenberg went back to Denmark to finalize his learnings.
He launched himself in a business activity in the timber merchandising in Malaysia 19 years ago and got back to China to start his own group in 1993. Trayton Group was established in Shanghai in 1995 in the timber trade between Africa and Asia. Today, Trayton Group's main occupation is modeling and making of upholstery furniture internationally and selling and supplying of furniture and lifestyle goods in China. Simon Lichtenberg built the firm from scratch to what it is today: a professional organization with over 2,000 employees. One of the group's subsidiaries, Trayton Furniture, entered the "Shanghai Top 500 Industrials" in 2005. Trayton Group is also the master franchisee for China of the modern fashionable Danish lifestyle retail unit BoConcept owning 20 distribution boutiques throughout the nation. Sofapop, the firm's mass-market lifestyle commodities retail label was set up in Shanghai in 2008, and currently is operating distribution and e-commerce in China and globally. The firm introduced the Danish refined jewelry brand Georg Jensen in China in 2010.
Simon Lichtenberg can communicate in 7 languages and has lived in 8 territories. 24 years ago, Simon Lichtenberg, arrived in China with the firm belief of building a business. After working in timber trading in Malaysia, he established his first company with his US $30 000 borrowed from a friend in 1993. Unfortunately, his first business efforts did not pay off initially. After trying to trade in many different products, he earned his first commission from sale of African timber to Chinese Plywood manufacturers. Lichtenberg, in his early twenties, was about to throw in the towel and planned to leave China for good when he joined hands with the Danish furniture firm BoConcept, to start selling its products in China. For Lichtenberg that was a starting point of his successful career as an entrepreneur.
