WORK EXPERIENCE
| Employer: | Abusua Foundation |
| Position: | Executive Director |
| Time period: | January 2002 - Present |
| Description: |
I founded Abusua Foundation in 2002. From then till now, my job has been to develop projects and programmes on youth development, human rights, HIV/AIDS and Good Governance (for local government structures) – all aimed at youth and youth groups. I also supervise the day-to-day activities of The Foundation including writing of proposals, facilitation of youth programmes, workshops and generally creating a profile for the organization. Also, I write grant proposals and mange the grants with the help of the finance officer and other staff on the project (s). So far, I have helped Abusua to raise the equivalent of over $150,000 for our focus projects and programmes over the last 3years. Currently, I have helped to develop an Internship and Volunteer placement programme for the Organization that is aimed cutting on reliance on foreign donors. This programme has so far attracted over 70 volunteers and interns from across the globe. I am the coordinator for this project until a substantive coordinator is recruited. Abusua Foundation’s biggest project – Youth Alive! (YA!) is a result of my ongoing thesis on youth participation in community decision-making processes. YA! as a project is a youth media/governance project that seeks to widen the political and social space in which Ghanaian youth are permitted to actively engage with social, cultural, environmental and governance issues in a manner that is characterised by diversity, independence and critical thinking. |
