FULL BIO
Dr Shibley Rahman's career ambition to become a corporate lawyer. He has a strong academic record over 2 decades, including scholarships at Westminster School, Cambridge and BPP Business School. He has been given approval by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to complete his training as a student of the LPC (which he will commence in January 2012), and to do his training contract. He is yet to secure his training contract, but is seeking to do it with a corporate firm with a very good reputation across all practice areas.
Dr Shibley Rahman, now 36, is an English academic by training and entrepreneur. He is currently the Company Director of Law and Medicine Limited, an e-learning company for students of the MRCP(UK) and the GDL.
Dr Shibley Rahman is a strong interest in academic excellence, inter alia. Having obtained a Queen's Scholarship at Westminster School in 1987, he went up to Cambridge to read medicine in 1993. Dr Shibley Rahman graduated from Cambridge with the second highest first in natural sciences in 1996 (his BA), his MA in 1999, and his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Doctor of Philosophy in 2001. His Ph.D., passed by the University with no corrections, was on the specific deficits of the frontal dementias. Furthermore, he obtained his diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2005.
Dr Shibley Rahman has managed to complete his Bachelor of Laws from BPP Law School as well as his Master of Laws from the College of Law of England and Wales (in which he passed all his modules well and obtained a Commendation overall). He is in addition a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner, as he is very much interested in the application of complex project management principles.
Dr Shibley Rahman still is a renowned expert in the frontal dementias, well respected internationally for his expertise in the behavioural variant of frontotemporal dementia. Dr Shibley Rahman's paper from 1999 is still considered to be a marked contribution to the field, explaining how a lack of diagnosis of this type of dementia could be explained by the heterogeneous structure and functions of the human prefrontal cortex. He has 15 first-author papers/articles in the subject of dementia overall.
Dr Shibley Rahman also admires self-made men, his father being one of them (who died on 10th November 2010). Dr Shibley Rahman considers Richard Branson and Lord Alan Sugar as role models for entrepreneurial leadership.
Dr Shibley Rahman really enjoys teamwork. He believes that teamwork is essential to successful projects. For example, he has founded and runs the BPP Legal Awareness Society ("legal aware") at BPP Business School for MBA Business students, who would like to further their interest in commercial law.
