The company was sold to a larger concern at the end of 2006. Further details of this project fall under the terms of an NDA.

Employer: EarthPort plc
Position: Chief Operations Officer
Time period: December 2002 - November 2005
Description: EarthPort plc is a City based Financial Services company, specialising in ePayments, who also own and operate their own global banking network. This enables the company to process cash and cheque transactions, as well as the less prevalent credit card, at a cost economically viable to clients.

As COO Russell was tasked with directing/managing all development, production and operations functions, which were in severe disarray on his arrival. He was also hired to provide the benefit of his wide expertise to the board.

His major achievement during his tenure was the radical improvement of the company’s structure and processes, which before he arrived were seriously impeding the growth and therefore future of the company. As a direct result of the application of his initiatives, the company were able to attract several major clients and partners, including Wanadoo (the largest ISP in Europe), Visa and HP.

Employer: WorldPay plc (Royal Bank of Scotland)
Position: Various Senior Directorships
Time period: December 1997 - November 2003
Description: WorldPay plc are a Financial Services company, and the largest eCommerce solutions provider in the world outside the US, offering a range of self-developed ePayments products and associated eCommerce services to many thousands of companies large and small.

Russell’s roles during his tenure at WorldPay were many and varied, and encompassed nearly all areas of the company’s business, though he specialised in Customer Services, Production and Operations in latter years.

His initial brief was to take what was essentially an R&D company based in the Channel Islands, and turn it into a going commercial concern. Initially this meant sourcing a mainland office and staffing & equipping same, taking the company to launch at the UK’s premier trade show, then growing the business to the position where it could be listed or sold. All of these aims were achieved in very short order by Russell and the teams he created, under his direct management. By the time the company was sold to the RBS, a relationship that blossomed under his management, it had grown from no clients to 30,000, and from no revenue to over £1 million per day, all in just under three years.

As NetBanx’s first employee, Russell was tasked with heading up the commercialisation of what was an embryonic ePayments product (NetBanx were the first to market in the UK). This proved financially successful, and NetBanx survive in an ever more crowded market when many of their contemporaries did not.
