Employer: Freestyle Games LTD
Position: Work experience
Time period: October 2005 - February 2007
Description: My most recent period at Freestyle, was as an assistant games designer. I worked for the development team at freestyle for around 15 months in total, helping design animation and game play for the recently released video game titles; “B-BOY the Game”, “Buzz Junior: Robot Jam” and “Buzz Junior: Monster Jam”. Both of these games were published by S.C.E.E (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) and released in September 2006 and September 2007 respectively, on Sony PlayStation2 and PSP formats.
My initial role as a “data review specialist” on b-boy, involved analysing motion capture video footage and manipulating the information into a custom-built database in order to aid the development of a complex in-game animation system.
As the project developed, I worked closer with the various leads and learnt a lot more about the demands of the development cycle and requirements of the publishers. I became an integral part of the development team helping design, plan, and implement new systems to meet previous design specifications, introducing new design features, helping reach important milestones and deliverables.
I worked with the project producer. Lead designer and lead animator, as well as the motion capture studio team, based in Oxford and an outsource team of animators, based in Germany, to develop a streamlined animation pipeline to process the data and help create the in-game animation assets, ready for implementation.
Following the successful development of B-boy, I was offered a permanent position as an assistant designer Freestyle. During this period I worked on developing the game play and design aspects for Freestyles most recently released “Buzz Junior” titles and some of their current projects.
I gained good experience in project based work, organising and leading meetings; managing time, resources and assets effectively to ensure deadlines are met and passed. Through Freestyle I have been involved in consulting for to a global publisher, communicating abstract and complex information to both internal management teams and external partners.

Banking the monies received and allocating the incoming cash to the appropriate individual departmental budgets.
I developed a deep working knowledge of the finance systems within a large government organization.

Employer: Sound Affairs
Position: Work experience
Time period: June 2004 - July 2005
Description: During the last two years of university I had a vacation job teaching break dance workshops for a Cardiff based charity. I have taught workshops in schools, community and arts centres around the country for many organizations and to all kinds of ages and abilities. This was a great experience for me, from which I learnt;
Punctuality, discipline, teamwork, and communication skills, vital for teaching. Managing lesson time effectively, structuring lesson plans to create targets for whole class and adhering to the specific needs and abilities of individuals. Working both individually and as part of a team or supporting other tutors and community/care workers. I also had some administrative and organizational duties including; fund raising, budgeting, bookings, invoicing, advertising and promoting.
I taught and performed on a national tour, taking workshops all over the country during the summer of 2004 and I have since been invited to participate on similar programs for the last 2 years running.
