FULL BIO
Polina Oliferenko obtained her MS Diploma in Chemistry from Moscow State University in 1999. After graduation she started her Ph. D. programme at the same University in the Laboratory of Molecular Modelling and Computer-Aided Molecular Design, but later moved to the USA and continued her work as a research associate in the Centre for Heterocyclic Compounds at the University of Florida under the guidance of Professor Katritzky. Research in Florida involved QSAR/QSPR studies of different physical chemical and biochemical properties, including modelling of melting points of ionic liquids. Modelling of solvation-related properties gave rise to the development of novel hydrogen bond descriptors, which eventually evolved into a new, semiempirical method of modeling solubilities and inter-phase distributions.
In November 2008 Polina joined the QUILL research team as a research student under the supervision of Professor Ken Seddon. Her current research relates to crystal engineering and to the investigation of hydrogen bonding patterns in ionic liquids. To date, Polina has published 8 papers.
