WORK EXPERIENCE
| Employer: | Clone New Zealand Limited |
| Position: | CEO |
| Time period: | December 2002 - February 2008 |
| Description: | Established to market the CloneCMS solution, the company won blue‐chip clients in every industry sector ‐ and employed more than a dozen talented people.
• Commercial Management. To sustain the company's growth, I designed and then worked with my team to implement formal processes and systems that streamlined workflow and billing, managed code releases and facilitated project management. • Business Development. I grew the client base from literally nothing to include top organisations in the banking, insurance, travel, education and local government sectors. • Consulting/Strategy. I spearheaded the consulting process with new clients, led the development of their web strategy – with a strong focus on content management and digital asset aggregation and presentation to multiple devices and audiences. • Creative Direction. I was responsible for the solution that we delivered, in terms of 'fit' with the client's business objectives, alignment to their brand, interface usability, information architecture, and adherence to e‐gov/accessibility standards. • Project Management. I successfully delivered dozens of very large, complex enterprise software and new media projects while CEO of Clone. I also defined and documented project management process and policy which assured the continuation of ‘best practice’ following my resignation. |
| Employer: | NetLogic |
| Position: | Group Manager Creative |
| Time period: | December 1999 - January 2001 |
| Description: | Following the placement of venture capital, I was invited to join the start‐up to realise a suite of innovative web applications. These included an event management/venue booking system, a digital music programming and broadcasting solution and a web system to auction 3G Radio Spectrum.
• Senior Management. Established Auckland office and assumed responsibility for its day to day operation. Worked closely with CEO on group strategy, business development and investor relations/governance reporting. • Creative Head. Worked with my team of designers, developers and producers to ensure projects were strategically, functionally and financially aligned with business objectives. Working with the company's divisional heads, I led the development of numerous large web applications, created visual identities/brands for these products as well as producing sales/technical literature and web sites to promote and support them in the marketplace. |
| Employer: | Datacom |
| Position: | Creative Director |
| Time period: | May 1998 - October 1999 |
| Description: | Joining the fledgling Internet team at Datacom, I worked closely with the division's General Manager to bring new ideas, usability and information architecture disciplines to an already highly competent development team.
• Client Management. Pitching strategy, winning new business with the division's GM. Day to day communication and managing relationships with senior/board level clients. • Creative Direction. Hiring and managing Art Directors and Client Side Developers, interface design, usability and standards compliance, concepts and creative leadership. • Information Architecture. Streamlining and 'humanising' content and navigation for very large, complex web projects for Telcos and other top Enterprises, analysing ‘user journeys’ and documenting usability standards for future site development. • Project Management. Planning, managing, reporting, risk analysis and mitigation, co‐ordinating client‐side and application development with parallel software development activities. | Employer: | Trinity Innovation Limited |
| Position: | Chief Evangelist |
| Time period: | January 1991 - November 2007 |
| Description: | With a history of delivering successful projects for organisations such as TelstraClear, Trinity created CloneCMS (Content Management Server) to meet the need for a truly non‐technical solution. Our vision was to "allow the people who write the content to own it" ‐ by creating a solution that could be used without any training at all. All of the development ‐ including client‐side and application development/technical architecture ‐ was done in‐house by a very small team. The result was an uncompromising solution, delivered to the market in record time.
Key aspects of this role: • Application Design. Requirements/functional specification, interface design (navigation, usability, information architecture) and user journeys/functional optimisation. • Technical Leadership. Recruited and managed team of developers to realise software, managed software releases, testing and version management. • Training. Trained technical managers/end users in CMS operation and management. • Marketing. Graphic Design. Product brand development, communications, user manuals, pitches to potential clients, etc. • Project & Financial Management. Funding, cashflow forecasts, managing banking relationship, book‐keeping, tax/compliance, payroll, company structure, venture capital. |
