| Description: | Job purpose:
To assist in maintenance and management of Vodacom’s SAN infrastructure, SAN integration into the IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: • Must be familiar with EMC Symmetrix, Clariion and Cisco products. A minimum of 5 years experience in such technologies. Skills include both EMC hardware and software technologies including SRDF, TimeFinder, Control Center, Solutions Enabler and Navisphere manager. OS skills to include Solaris, HP-UX, IBM-AIX, Linux and Windows. • Day to Day running and administration of Vodacom storage arrays and switches including data replication, storage provisioning, migration and storage performance. • Monitoring of data replication and DR readiness. • Assist system administrators in managing system storage and application of storage technologies. • Trouble shoot storage and performance issues and assist system administrators where applicable. • Respond to and follow up problem issues with the vendor to ensure a satisfactory resolution. • Provide out of hours standby cover and as required. • Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information. • Perform monitoring of SAN and system performance and troubleshoot where necessary. • Provide training to team members and server teams on new storage technologies. • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development. • Evaluation of other storage technologies from various vendors. • Maintain and develop existing relationships with the vendor(s). The applicant much be able to work to deadlines and achieve work goals and objectives. Be flexible whilst adhering to work principles and values. The applicant must be able to stress tolerant and be able to deliver results. |
