Description: Matt Jones is among Australia's new generation of leaders in social innovation with international experience and recognition. He is a social entrepreneur with a strong network providing access to international best practice in this nascent field. Presently the Executive Director of Social Alchemy, a consultancy he formed in 2006 to find practical solutions to improve wellbeing and empower communities, with a focus on corporate sustainability.

Position: Australian Army Officer
Description: Drawing upon over 18 years service as an Australian Army Officer, and a recipient of a Churchill Fellowship to examine social enterprise in UK/USA, he demonstrates an ability to promote economically, socially and culturally important issues in complex settings. During his military career, Matt held many leadership positions, with operational experience including serving as the lead Operations and Plans officer for the Australian Defence Force in East Timor during 2002- 03. Matt managed the Australian Army response to the tsunami relief effort in Aceh. His military service has developed unique insight to community development. Matt has well developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively, both with the discipline required as a self-starter and as a member of collegial and interdisciplinary teams.
While conducting research through UK and USA in 2005, Matt reviewed developments in social capital as they would benefit the Australian Defence Organisation. His work supporting the strengthening of social capital within the Australian Defence Force continues. As a personal trainer, Matt recognises the importance of healthy lifestyle and the restorative effects this brings to community wellbeing.

Awards: In 2008, Matt was presented a Leadership Award at the Australian Davos Connection Future Summit by the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.

In 2009, Matt was one of 12 Australians recognised as a Vincent Fairfax Fellowship to study ethics in leadership during an eighteen month experiential and reflective program.
