I like to define myself as a Software professional. I enjoy doing software and trying to create the best software possible. During my professional career I have had the luck of working on very different projects on very different sectors which I believe it has given me a broader view of the software development. I have been working in projects that go from software to evaluate the costs of patients to real-time trading applications which require sub-millisecond latency.
I really enjoy software and anything related with software. During my career I have had to represent many different roles, programmer, architect, team lead or consultant but in any of them I always had tried to learn from software failures and successes. I am a strong follower and adopter of Agile Programming, Scrum and Test Driven Development.
I always have been an Open Source advocate. I have had the opportunity of giving many presentations presenting solutions based in Open Source and finally had the luck of creating a successful Open Source product which people are still using. In the last year I created my own company and started giving professional services on the payments services industry. Ah, I also created a new project Jobsket.com which hopefully will become the next big thing.

Description:	Worked as contractor at Sentenial Ltd. doing the job of Senior software developer. I helped with the creation of their flagship SEPA payments processing system which has been successfully deployed on some of the most important European banks. This job included programming and architecting core parts of the product as well helping and mentoring junior developers and other teams. Some of the technologies used are JEE, Hibernate, Spring, jboss, JMS, IBM WebSphere, IBM WebSphere MQ, and others.

Description:	In early 2008 I founded Jobsket.com with another two people. The project has been developed during 2008 and will see the light in early 2009. Jobsket.com is a web application to store and evaluate CVs in real-time offering different services to candidates and companies. Some of the technologies used here are JEE, Grails, Spring, Hibernate, Tomcat, MySQL and others.

Description:	I joined the Programme Delivery team as senior software developer to help with the migration of their old real-time settlement and payment processing platform to JEE. I worked designing and implementing the batch integrity platform that helps to ensure consistency in their daily processes. I also provided consultancy and advice on their new frameworks, flagging dangerous design and helping with suggestions to improve scalability, distributed caching, resource management, etc.

Description:	This was my first job in Ireland. Cognotec is an Irish company that has been providing for over a decade award winning automated trading solutions to the global financial markets and leader on the FX (foreign exchange) industry. As a member of the architecture team I had to define and maintain the architecture of their flagship products, take care all the non-functional aspects of the product development lifecycle, lead different projects, help and mentor software development teams, work close to business analysts adapting the system to the customer needs, among other tasks. Some of the technologies used were JEE, BEA WebLogic, Oracle, EJB, Applets, Wily Introscope, JMS, WebSphere MQ, Tomcat, QuickFIX, and others.

Description:	I worked as a Senior Software Engineer in IT Deusto creating applications for the healthcare sector within the Juan Canalejo Hospital in A Coruña. I also did some consultancy and presales work which included visiting some customers to expose our products and I contributed to the architecture team. The job in the hospital involved the creation, architecture and development of an internal costs management software application that later was promoted to province level and was adopted but all the hospitals of the region. This job was the continuation of the work done during previous years in Dinsa Soluciones. Technologies include IBM WebSphere, Informix, JEE, EJB, Web Services, JDBC, HL7, and others.

Description:	jLibrary is an Open Source Document Management System built on top of the JSR-170 (Java Content Repository), the Eclipse Rich Client Platform and Web Services. The project has been active during the last five years with more than five committers and several companies adopting the product in different countries and with more than 50.000 downloads. Last version of the project was release in Summer 2008. Some of the technologies used are Tomcat, MySQL, Apache Axis, SOAP, SAAJ, WSDL, Eclipse RCP and others. This project was nominated for best Eclipse RCP project for two consecutive years and I had the honor of travelling to California to present at EclipseCon which is the most important event in the world for the Eclipse Community.
