Time period: May 2001 - Present
Description: Communications consulting firm creating Web 2.0 media products, marketing support programs and public relations campaigns for clients including OgilvyPR, the American Institutes for Research, Bassi Investments, the Courage Community and Marmillion & Co.
• Served as a producer for the Virtual News Network created by Ogilvy for the TOPOFFII BioTerrorism simulation exercise produced for the Department of Homeland Security.
• Recent work with AIR was to help produce for HHS a 260-page guide for journalists in biohazardous situations.
• Recent Courage Community project was to develop a UI and demo homepage for an interactive social networking site in support of wounded Iraqi veterans. Marmillion & Co. projects include writing a PR Toolkit in support of America’s WETLAND: Campaign to Save Coastal Louisiana.

Description: Performed as a senior member of Ogilvy’s Technology Practice on a variety of high tech accounts. Primary responsibility was to work with the Chairman, CEO and senior execs of Manugistics Group, Inc. to enhance media visibility and increase financial market coverage.
• Maintained continuous press coverage in key markets for the CEO, including appearances on MSNBC & Reuters, and interviews with The Economist, WSJ, etc.
• Conducted press interviews on an on-going basis in advance or company announcements and quarterly reports. Company valuation increased by over a billion dollars during this period.

Description: As a partner and senior political media consultant, produced and directed hundreds of television and radio ads for national and international public affairs and political campaigns. Set campaign strategy, developed candidate’s messages and targeted voters for numerous winning political and public affairs campaigns, garnering a number of professional awards in the process.
• Attended briefings for Democratic political consultants held by the White House and DNC.
• Significantly increased the firm’s production values, product quality and profitability.
• Produced a national video news release from the White House Rose Garden on behalf of the Greek Prime Minister, testing large-scale grassroots lobbying techniques for the National Education Association, and primary care marketing for the U. of Md. Medical Center’s hospital.

Description: A for-profit think tank, handling policy analysis and issues management for a wide variety of Fortune 500 corporations.
• Provided campaign plans, message development and project management for the most difficult, and politically sensitive client problem situations.
• Successfully pitched, planned and executed the first large scale corporate grassroots lobbying campaign ($3.5mm) ever undertaken in Canada. Served on the Management Committee and participated in company mergers and acquisitions.

Position: Director of Information Systems
Time period: January 1981 - January 1985
Description: Matt Reese created the role of the general political consultant, and was the first to commercialize corporate grass roots lobbying and geodemographic targeting in politics.
• Created the computer systems that made geodemographic targeting possible. This involved generating 12 million pieces of mail and 4 million telephone calls in dozens of grassroots recruitment campaigns that garnered three million grassroots volunteers for corporate clients.
• Developed a recruitment response system using Osborne personal computers that captured 100,000 volunteer responses a night from calling centers in seven cities resulting in 850,000 mailgrams to Congress in support of AT&T’s access fee legislation.

Position: Director, Office of Telecommunications
Time period: January 1980 - January 1981
Description: Created the budget, procedures and policies for the newly formed Office of Telecommunications. Defined systems for tracking contract oversight requirements, performed political liaison duties, led community relations functions and reviewed policy concerns. Worked closely with Mayor “Dutch” Morial and the City Council to successfully facilitate the smooth implementation of physical plant construction and community expectations.

Position: Writer / Producer
Time period: January 1979 - January 1980
Description: Created agency’s reputation in electronic media. 1980 TV spots for Congresswoman Lindy Boggs won the ADDY award for best television commercials produced in the region. Other award-winning work included media campaigns for the area’s electrical utility, an international oil services firm, and a TV and radio campaign that successfully persuaded voters to pass a half-cent sales tax for a predominantly African-American inner-city school system.
