Having completed the initial project successfully for AER Worldwide, the focus is to build and grown the company and the brand of “Samian”.
Moved to new offices in St John’s Innovation Centre in Cowley Road, and joined The Cambridge and Ecademy Networks. Samian now specialises in WEEE Legislation, Electronic Waste Management, ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems, and electronic Duty of care systems. Business scope was to explore whether it was a viable business strategy to establish operations in UK, following their recent expansion in Malaysia and India. I was responsible for fully understanding the UK & European market place and making recommendations to the board of directors whether this company should or should not expand business operations in East or West Europe.

Description: Nokia Corporation invited me to work in Singapore to establish an Environmental business group to bring awareness to the Nokia Asia Pacific Region. This role involved recruiting staff to eventually build a team across Asia, having a representative in each of the eight countries that this region comprised of. Key success measures were the implementation of ISO 14001 in the region, electronic recycling points in all countries, staff awareness increased in environmental issues and large financial savings were made in energy consumption and costs.

Time period: December 1991 - November 1999
Description: Between 1992 & 1999, Mobile phone technology was developing rapidly, and with the increased consumer demand, came the need for bigger and better manufacturing and distribution operations. My role was to ensure that all the material within the logistics group travelled smoothly, and in an on time manner. Throughout this project, numerous manufacturing & distribution sites were identified and constructed:

1993 – Nokia Factory in Dongguan – South China
1994 – Nokia Office in Dubai – United Arab Emirates
1995 – Nokia Distribution Centre – Sydney Australia
1996 – Nokia Factory in Beijing – North China
1997 – Nokia Distribution Centre – Tokyo Japan
1998 – Nokia Distribution Centre – Beijing China
1999 – Audit that Factory and Distribution network is fully functional

This demanding role brought together team work, individual skills and the ability to deliver a key part of the corporations infrastructure in a quality and timely manner.

Description: Having joined Nokia in January 1989, I was responsible for improving the Logistics and Operations in both the UK and Finland. My role was primarily to establish logistics and distribution operations and facilities in both countries, and this was followed by manufacturing and distribution in Germany. My achievement was to establish and manage the logistics and distribution functions in Camberley (UK), Salo (Finland) and Bochum (Germany). These functions included Order Management, Customer Care, warehousing and physical transportation direct to customer.

Position: GBC Basingstoke (www.gbceurope.com) Print and Production Controller
Time period: December 1986 - November 1988
Description: My role was to create an IT and a production control system for the Basingstoke
factory. During the recession – presentation became more important to both
employers and employees as they searched for business and employment. This
factory had binder manufacturing, and printing as the basic product lines, with
Hewlett Packard as a key customer. Printing included Litho, Silk Screen and Gold
Blocking. My role was to ensure that orders were managed productively and
professionally, and that customer orders were fulfilled in an on time manner, and
that a quality product was delivered as ordered, whilst also maintain constant
communication with the customers.

Employer: EATON Corporation
Position: EATON Transmission Division (www.eaton.com) Materials Controller
Time period: December 1979 - November 1986
Description: Joined EATON Basingstoke following eight years serving in HM Forces (Army).
My first role was as a Material Control Clerk, responsible for inventory management, followed by roles and Material Control Supervisor, Progress Control Supervisor, Expediting Manager for raw Material and Bought In components. My final role was as Material Controller with responsibility for ensuring that the 18 production lines were in constant supply of the 1000+ components and that all the manufactured parts were available in an on time manner.
Major challenge was working in conjunction with the Quality department to ensure that all components were available on time.
