Description:
• 6 years Department Manager - New Business Creation (NBC). Developed and grew HP New Business creation program chartered to create large new businesses based upon HP inkjet technology. Managed 50 person cross-functional (R&D, Marketing, Supply chain) department. Brought four major opportunities to venture-funded status (HP Projectors, Lightscribe, Instant cinema, RPTV). Filled ‘funnel’ with short to long-term opportunities including flat-panel displays, digital projectors, laser-activated coatings, fuel cells, memory products, and 3D prototyping. Pitched programs through business plans, technical feasibility investigations and copious networking. Fostered relationships inside and outside HP from HP Labs to Universities to enable program objectives.
• Drove Kodak/HP joint venture formation to produce the world’s first inkjet photo-minilab (1.5 years.) Functioned as the R&D manager and the HP R&D core business team member. Heavily involved in the legal company-formation process (Business Plan, LLC documents, R&D and IP license agreements etc.)
• 19 years R&D and Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing and R&D project managment. Varied responsibilities; electrical engineer on the 41C calculator and HP-IB ThinkJet, Marketing manager for HP’s customized OEM printer program, InkJet Cartridge designer on 5 HP cartridges, Project manager and Program manager on various HP imaging programs.
