FULL BIO
John Wilson has worked with startups, medium-sized companies, and large international firms, such as The National Grid, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Morgan Stanley, Lucent Technologies, British Telecom, Elsevier Publishing, the New York Mercantile Exchange, and many others. John has coached students and professionals and advised multinational corporations when building or revamping user interface designs, information architectures, Technical and Marketing Communications departments, and print and online information delivery strategies for business operations, business support, and business development.
From 1992-2001, John was Managing Director of his own Technical Communications and Training consulting company in England. As a Guest Lecturer at Oxford University for three years, John taught his Technical Communication seminars and helped develop Internet-based Communications courses for the university before moving back to the United States. In 2005 John created an Online Help system that contributed in part to winning the IBM Share Award for Excellence in Technology.
John has been a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) (www.stc.org), where he presented a number of STC-sponsored Technical Communications webinars; and his latest article, Total Product Communications: Your Company is Your Product, was published in the September/October 2006 edition of STC's Internet-based publication, the Intercom magazine.
In addition to being a seasoned writer and a Corporate Communications manager, strategist, and coach, John is a professional voice actor. He has developed and taught his voice over classes at the Sandwich Community School since 2004. His voice work has been used in commercials and corporate narrations since 1998. John is also a professional videographer, television presenter, producer, writer, and director, having created technology-based comedic, educational, and documentary television shows.
Because of John's enthusiasm and inspiration regarding energy, technology, and environmental concerns, he conceptualized, designed, marketed, and launched Newfangler, LLC in June of 2005 (www.newfangler.com), which markets and promotes clean technologies. As a member of the MIT Enterprise Forum’s Energy Group, John has worked with organizations such as Cape Wind, GreenFuel Technologies, The MIT Energy Initiative, the Ignite Clean Energy Competition, The Clean Technology and Sustainable Industries Organization, and the Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center.
John holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Boston College, and a Master’s degree in Public Relations from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University.
