Description: Unified Communications and Unified Messaging Enterprise Architect and Systems Consultant for internal and customer engagements utilizing Siemens HiPath telephony switching, OpenScape presence applications and Siemens XPressions Unified Messaging platform. Assisting in the carve out of Siemens Communications from the greater Siemens.net global Active Directory and separation of Siemens/Nokia. Also assisted in buildup of global managed services portfolio to assist customers with optimization projects.

Time period: October 2000 - July 2007
Description: Chief architect of multiple integration and consolidation strategies. Principal architect for re-design of large, complex, heterogeneous corporate messaging backbone. First phase hardware refresh for end-of-life systems where meantime between failures was almost nil. Replaced thirteen mailbox servers with eight new multi-CPU heads and 1.5 TB fibre-channel SAN array. Restaged all mailboxes so users were grouped by area, department, or business proximity, built Site Connectors weighted so that almost all traffic was routed off X.400 and cut down intersite traffic by almost thirty %. First phased consolidation saved customer over $1M annually on MSA contract and led to additional follow-on business.
Worked closely with HR, Data Warehousing, Engineering, other groups who required directory extracts. Targeted for elimination proprietary and complex X.500 Rialto Directory and internal Sendmail relays. With other Exchange site administrators, manually cleaned data resident in Exchange, ran, monitored, measured and improved data input capabilities and quality and consistency of extracts. Built SQL master repository, where all inputs and outputs are monitored, built automated processes to update each Exchange site through its bridgehead connector and automatically create extracts to be included in global LDAP Siemens Corporate Directory. Took staff from twelve down to five, reduced mistakes and failures.
Defined and implemented enterprise backup and disaster recovery plans, built segregated and dedicated public and private information store servers, list servers, re-designed and migrated internal domains to prepare for incorporation of new Active Directory sites for each Siemens Operating Company.

Description: Equity position as Director of Network Services, also Chief Architect and network administrator for internal networks. Principal architecture oversight and applications support contact for Tennessee statewide educational network infrastructure upgrade with Educational Networks of America, Chief Architect of ISP and OEM partnership between Beacon Technologies, Bluestar Communications and Dell to put clients and servers on corporate desktops and connect them using DSL technology. Designed high-speed segregated fiber channel backup network and systems for Investment Scorecard terabyte data repository.

Description: Chief Architect and equity participant, designed and built distributed hosted site for e-commerce company utilizing Oracle back-end servers and clustered MS-IIS and Linux front-end web servers on public DMZ behind CheckPoint firewalls pulling content from Network Appliance servers co-located at external hosting facility. Built private LAN running MS-Exchange and BackOffice through MS-Proxy which also authenticates remote PPTP sales and marketing clients. Implemented Net Objects Fusion authoring server, Zope server, Source Safe version control, ISS, NFR and BASS security audits. Provided full systems Y2K audits for affiliate customers.

Description: Senior technical lead on Windows NT / Exchange deployment and migration across WAN for 300 hospitals and key project manager corporate LAN group. Defined enterprise backup/restore and disaster recovery procedures for NT and Exchange enterprise systems. Authored three-tier client-server support matrix for problem escalation and resolution procedures. Designed and built multi-processor Compaq with fiber-channel RAID array for legal document repository. Recommended and implemented ISS security software for internal audit and maintained Soft Switch link across existing disparate messaging systems during conversion process. Architected and managed the only Exchange 5.5 solution at the time to reach 6 nine’s (99.9999%) uptime over multiple measurement periods.

Carson, Ft. Hood, Ft. McPherson (Army); Avondale (Navy); Army Corps of Engineers. Trained on-site core administration personnel. Technical lead on Army and Army Corps of Engineers migration from Novell and CCMail enterprise transition to Windows NT and Exchange. Assisted in testing for C2 security compliant systems for DOD DMS (secure messaging system.) Architected, built or directed the design and implementation of over 200 Exchange systems.

Task manager for BellSouth internal operation to develop CAD-based live response network system. Assisted in migration from proprietary UNIX CAD to open standards NT-based CAD products. Tasks included network diagrams and IP address range allocation for business offices and defining and integrating interoperability tools during transition process.
