WORK EXPERIENCE

Employer: The MITRE Corporation, El Segundo CA
Position: Technical Manager
Time period: December 2006 - Present
Description: I lead several project initiatives and activities as a member of the Electronics Systems Technology Center, including customers at the Space and Missile Center, internal MITRE and foreign military sales. I lead the work, interface with the customers, manage the programmatic aspects and provide technical oversight to over 20 engineers
- Project leader for our Transformational Communications Satellite (TSAT) support. I lead our support to the System Engineering and Integration office in El Segundo CA as well as the Air Force Terminal office FAB-T increment 3 in Bedford MA.
- Principle investigator for a MITRE Internal R&D grant (MOIE) on inter-domain routing in the global information grid.
- Intelligence Data Architecture in Iraq and Afghanistan for PEO Information and Electronic Warfare System, Ft Monmouth. I led the development of mission threads based on actual mission information from the field and created a methodology to extract a system architecture based on these threads.
- Led a task for the Japanese Ministry of Defense in the development of a Military Satellite Communications roadmap for the Japan Self Defense Forces.
- Led an internal R&D grant for developing a RF connectivity tool for ground, airborne and satellite communications
- Led a team bidding for an internal R&D effort called the Xtreme Tactical radio Challenge. Solicitation requested ideas for a novel approach for using commercial systems to create a communications infrastructure that could be deployed quickly to our troops in Iraq. The team was one of the 4 winning teams awarded funds for the creation of a demo.
- Jordan Border Security Program. Development of a baseline border security architecture. Conducted the on the ground survey of the entire Jordanian Border, led the comms and architecture technical work and interfaced with O-6 and GO officers from the Jordanian Armed Forces.
- Led an effort to assess the state of the art of High Performance Computing and its use in the modeling and simulation of large military networks. Assessment included everything from parallel computing to quantum computing techniques.

Employer: The MITRE Corporation, Eatontown, New Jersey
Position: Program Area Manager
Time period: December 2005 - November 2007
Description: As a Program Area Manager I maintained oversight of all analysis projects in our division. I interfaced with the customers and adjusted our support according to their needs. I was responsible for business development into new analysis areas. I ensured that budgets are on track and negotiated funding with the customers. And I ensured that projects are staffed and delivering on time. Projects include:
- Support to Deputy Under Secretary of the Army (Operations Research). Provide analysis support for ongoing and emerging acquisition programs
- Support to Training and Doctrine Command Army Capabilities Integration Center (TRADOC ARCIC). We provide support for analysis and studies into requirements and technical capabilities in the networking and communications areas.
- Support to TRADOC Analysis Center (TRAC) Ft Leavenworth. We provide support to their analysis and modeling and simulation activities
- Support to TRAC White Sands Missile Range. We provide support to their FCS Analysis activities, their overarching Integrated Network Analysis Plan activities and provide technical support for communications modeling in the CASTFOREM combat model.
As an individual technical contributor I led high visibility/ high intensity studies across our customer base to include:
- Development of a Joint Network Architecture and gap analysis for the Communications and Electronics Command (CERDEC) HQ. Develop architecture views for a total joint architecture and analyze to identify gaps and shortfalls projected for the 2014 timeframe.
- Conduct an analysis of Blue Force Tracking (BFT) for EPLRS and L-Band SATCOM based forces to evaluate their performance and create hybrid SATCOM and terrestrial alternatives based on commercial and military systems, evaluate them and make recommendations to the commander of TRADOC.
- Director of the Phase I Modeling and Simulation test for the DARPA CBMANET program.
- Data collection on Ku SATCOM systems from live tactical units in Iraq. Assess their network utilization, create traffic models for both unclassified and classified traffic, and use data to model operational user reactions to congested links using game theory approaches.
- Conduct an analysis of interim force network capabilities and identify short term improvements to their networks in the areas of SATCOM BFT, range extension and dismounted communications. Study conducted for CERDEC, delivered to the Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary Of The Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology.
