Description: The PatientPusher was a mechanical device to assist in transporting very heavy equipment and obese patients within hospitals by attaching to wheeled platforms such as beds, wheelchairs, and heavy equipment. The company was shut down after it became apparent that the market was too small to support the product.

Employer: SureShade
Position: Engineer
Time period: May 2009 - August 2009
Description: Summer position
SureShade designs and manufactures retractable boat awnings for both pleasure boating and sport fishing. The awnings retract at the push of a button, and do not interfere with casting a fishing line like traditional biminis.
I was responsible for modeling the company's products using SolidWorks, for performing safety analyses, and for designing a part numbering system which would be easy to understand and expandable as parts are changed/added.

Employer: Sinewave Energy Technologies
Position: Strategic planning intern
Time period: May 2008 - July 2008
Description: Power management start up company based around a technology capable of dimming HID lamps (previously considered impossible). I worked on UL and CE certification, wrote a business plan to expand the technology into another, potentially more lucrative space, and the plan was awarded an $185,000 grant from the technology collaborative.

o Identified potential for a new product by expanding current technology
o Wrote business plan and pursued strategic partnerships, including China.
o Primary author for a $185,000 winning grant proposal to the Technology Collaborative to create a product prototype and perform necessary testing
o Prepared application for UL testing and researched UL alternatives
o Developed and managed the CE certification process
o Saved $40,000 through research and analysis into the European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive

Description: Start up company creating a mobile phone social network (Styky), based out of Philadelphia. I was involved in creating, maintaining, and optimizing the service's web page.
