James Coburn

I have just finished my first year taking a BA in Enterprise & Entrepreneurial Management. During the year I have produced business plans, presented to Virgin Money a progression plan for pet insurance and completed a period working within a company as a project worker on e-commerce and learnt a lot. I feel my strongest points are organisation, communication and the ability to work well within a team or as a team leader.

- Accepted into Attleborough Sixth Form Centre and received Certificate for Outstanding Effort in A level Geography and Business Studies for Summer Term 2007 & Winter Term 2008
- Competed in the Young Enterprise Challenge in 2006-7 and 2007-8 as Operations Director for both seasons.

- Trader in the 2007 Norfolk stock market challenge, returned as head trader for 2008 event and returning again in June 2009.

- Produced a business plan for Virgin Pet Insurance in conjunction with the module on my degree, Enterprise in Action. Presented the development plan to a panel of Virgin Money directors.
-Elected President of Ashcroft Enterprise Society for 2009-10.

Description:	A variety of assignments working in many areas with job titles such as Car park marshal at Snetterton race circuit, stewarding at music festivals, Warehouse Assistant at Foulgers Transport and Hamilton Acorn , Warehouse Packer and Card Catcher at Paragon Norfolk, Industrial Cleaner at Breckland Industrial and Kitchen Assistant at Eagle House School and Wymondham College. I enjoyed the many differing challenges and learnt how to introduce myself and pick up skills quickly and efficiently which is essential in Temporary work. I was also was always eager to learn and positive.

Description:	High intensity work where I learnt how to deal well in stressful situations, this included washing and drying of plates, saucepans and cutlery. Enjoyed working in a team environment in both restaurants and was a good experience.

Description:	Company acquired Border Building Supplies Ltd. and stayed on in same position. I quickly learned to adapt to changes and enjoyed the new challenges presented. I also learnt a new computer sales system in a short space of time along with new products.

Description:	Serving customers and ensuring they have what they require, general shop work including stock checks, shelf stacking, operation of paint machine, answering the phone and work on the computer, also serving in the yard which included cutting timber, the loading of a customer’s car, preparation for deliveries and logging deliveries. Offered a full time trainee yard person position within the company in May 2006 but decided to stay in education.

Hobbies:

I’m a massive motor racing fan, particularly Formula 1. I also enjoy playing Tennis, Squash and Badminton along with being a keen observer of football. I am very interested in business, I am currently heading the creation of an enterprise society for university which is in the process of gaining SU membership, the society has already got over 20 members before becoming official and this will rise after the fresher’s fair next year.
