Franklin Mora works at the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) since 2008. He is the Director of the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP), a program funded by New York State's Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC), and assist individuals in starting or growing their business. The QEDC, is a non-profit organization that helps to create and retain jobs through neighborhood development, entrepreneurial assistance and business and tourism attraction programs. Franklin manages grants, helps create, implement, and manage programs and workshops, as well as provide one-on-one consultations.
Franklin began his career in 2006 with ACCION New York, Inc., a local micro-finance organization as a loan officer and risk analyst. Through his work he learned the different challenges that many small businesses faced. After leaving ACCION, he spent a short-time as an assistant to an Entrepreneur and Business Owner, and learned the importance of the detail that went into making a business successful. Franklin has created partnerships with community partners, establish innovative programs to assist entrepreneurs, and works with individuals to help them achieve their goals. Franklin is a native New Yorker, and first generation born American from Ecuadorian parents. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont.

| Description: | Directed and coordinated grant funding provided by New York State’s Empire State Development Corporation and Citi Foundation to assist lower-to-moderate income individuals by implementing the following programs and services: the Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition, Entrepreneurial Assistance Program Training Courses, business workshops, and one-on-one consultations. Managed Annual budget of approximately $115,000 and 3 revolving interns. Developed relationships with a diverse group of community partners and sponsoring organizations in order to meet grant requirements, and provide greater access to clients. Worked with and for Executive Director to serve as a representative to city agencies, elected officials, and sponsors.
Trained and counseled clients by creating and founding curriculum on subjects consisting in: Financing, Entrepreneurship, Business Planning, and Market Research to over 1,200 clients. |
