Description: Ricky Johnstone's Gene Regulation Laboratory, part of the Cancer Immunology Program at PeterMac, studies the interferon signalling pathways and the use of histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) as anti-tumor drugs.

I performed independent research under the supervision of A. Prof. Ricky Johnstone and Dr. Chris Clarke. I used biochemical and immunological techniques to examine the role of JAK1 and JAK2 in STAT1-independent interferon signalling pathway. I also studied the effect of DNA damage on the formation of IFI16 foci in the nucleus.

Description: Taiwan Adventist Hospital is an accredited 450-bed Regional Teaching Hospital in Taipei. It is renowned for its Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics departments. The pathology department processes all biological samples collected from patients and runs the blood service in the hospital.

I observed and assisted various stations running diagnostic experiments. My job included patient sample collection and bacterial cell culture and analysis.
