FULL BIO
I am currently a Research Analyst at Dunbar Capital, a multi-strategy fund of hedge funds with a 14-year track record. At Dunbar I monitor existing hedge fund investments by conducting manager meetings and conference calls, examining underlying securities and exposures, reviewing investor communications, and conducting statistical analysis. I also source and research new funds through my relationships with prime brokerage representatives and other contacts throughout the hedge fund industry. Additionally, I am responsible for Dunbar's investor communications and conference calls. In this role I have developed a broad understanding of investment strategies, portfolio construction, risk management, macroeconomics, and manager evaluation, and have been involved in research, marketing, and operations aspects of the firm. Prior to Dunbar I was a Research Associate covering the healthcare sector at Vista Research, a primary source research firm that was then owned by Standard & Poor's. At Vista I topics and identified, recruited, and vetted industry professionals who could discuss various healthcare topics with our institutional investor client base.
I am a 2006 graduate of Princeton University where I majored in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology with a Certificate (minor) in Environmental Studies. I am particularly interested in the applications of science, be it business or policy, and most enjoyed my coursework in environmental policy, environmental economics, and high-tech entrepreneurship. I studied abroad in Panama through a joint venture between Princeton and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and in Munich, Germany at the Goethe Institute. While at Princeton I was a part of the Varsity Swim Team (Division 1), Outdoor Action, The Daily Princetonian, and the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Undergraduate Committee. During the summers I worked at the Veterinary Molecular Biology Lab at Montana State University, and had internships with Montana Senator Conrad Burns in DC, the Wildlife Trust in NYC, and HSS Ventures in NYC. I have HSS Ventures to thank for my strong interest in finance, particularly venture capital investing, and startups.
Born and raised in Montana, I love being active and being outdoors. I enjoy skiing and hiking near my hometown of Bozeman/Big Sky and elsewhere (Alaska is a new favorite). I also enjoy competing in endurance athletic events such as full/half marathons and triathlons and am planning on doing my 2nd NYC Marathon in November.
