Description: Nirvanix is the premier “Cloud Storage” provider. It has built a cluster of storage nodes around the globe, collectively referred to as the Storage Delivery Network (SDN). The SDN manages data for Fortune 50 media and global enterprise customers, meeting the scalability demands for storing and delivering billions of files to millions of users.
Vice President of Product Management
- Recruited by CEO prior to incorporation or VC funding to lead the original implementation
of the SDN service, taking alpha-stage components and delivering a solid, production-ready platform to market. Led engineering efforts as “Product Owner” in Scrum/Agile process, from initial shaping of the web services API to the rollout of storage nodes around the globe.
SDN won “Storage Product of the Year” award in 2007 (B&S).
- Led Marketing Communication functions from inception through launch of company and
service. Developed the original website design and its content, key messaging, and white
papers. Selected and worked with PR agency to secure exceptional analyst/press coverage and endorsements.
- Delivered CloudNAS product to market, from strategic vision of seamlessly integrating
cloud storage into existing enterprise processes and infrastructure. CloudNAS transformed our sales cycle from a development effort that could take weeks to having our customers get instant access to the SDN. CloudNAS earned nomination for “Product of the Year” in 2009 (SM).
- In Q2/2008, served as VP of Business Development, developing key alliances and OEM
relationships including: CDNetworks, Atempo, Arkeia, and 3Tera. These channels significantly increased pipeline and revenue inside of two quarters.
- Assisted in securing funds from world-class investors including Intel Capital, European
Founders Fund, Mission Ventures, and Valhalla Partners.

Description: Brocade is a leading provider of data center and storage networking solutions that help
organizations manage their information. Joined Brocade in January of 2007 through the
$900M+ acquisition of McDATA.

Sr. Director of Product Management, Server Connectivity (Brocade)
- Led Brocade's entry into the HBA market as part of the Emerging Businesses group (iSCSI, FCoE, and HBAs). This effort doubled Brocade's TAM for Fibre Channel products.

Sr. Director of Product Management, Advanced Products Group (McDATA)
- Led a team of six senior product managers & marketing managers to grow revenue in new and adjacent markets, including File Services, Data Management & Movement. Expanded our portfolio with Solutions that combined our products with best-of-breed applications from Riverbed Technology, FalconStor Software, and StoreAge Networking Technologies.
- Launched the Remote Office Consolidation (ROC) solution, one of McDATA’s most
successful initiatives. With Inbound, Outbound, and Partnership responsibility for the group, added net-new revenue to the business (ramp at $3M in 3rd qtr).
- Key participant in planning and execution of the $235M acquisition of CNT. This
transaction accelerated expansion of the product portfolio and incorporation of professional
services to increase account control through a closer relationship with end-users.
- Managed the Application Services Module (ASM). Transformed a weak product plan into
the cornerstone of McDATA’s roadmap through the lifecycle process and secured release with largest OEM. Restructured ASIC supplier contract to avoid commoditization.

Employer: Orbital Data, Corp. (acquired by Citrix Systems, Inc), San Mateo, CA
Position: Director of Business Development
Time period: July 2003 - March 2004
Description: Orbital Data’s products optimize networking protocols for wide-area networks (WAN),
allowing high throughput and low latencies over long-distance IP links. Joined this pre-revenue, pre-product start-up to develop and execute on Storage and Disaster Recovery offerings.
Assisted it through product launch, venture financing, and recruitment of management team.
- Defined and executed on go-to-market strategy related to Disaster Recovery and Storage
Networking offerings. Targeted and engaged leading vendors in the market place, establishing early relationships with EMC/Legato, Brocade, Netscreen, and British Telecom.
- Assisted in redefining the overall positioning and corporate image. Launched multiple direct marketing campaigns and managed the process of capturing and responding to incoming leads.

Employer: Outlook Ventures (f.k.a. iMinds Ventures), San Francisco, CA

Time period: December 1999 - November 2003
Description: Outlook Ventures is a 12-year-old venture capital firm with $225M under management, focusing on seed and early-stage technology start-ups. Investments include Overture and DotBank (acquired by Yahoo), and Epicentric (acquired by Vignette). Responsible for identifying, analyzing, recommending, and managing investments made by the firm.
- Assisted portfolio companies in initiatives that included troubleshooting and identification of go-to-market strategies, product enhancements, strategic alliances, and direct marketing campaigns. Assigned as Board observer for NetBrowser Communications.
- Evaluated investment opportunities and made recommendations to the firm with structured transaction scenarios, leading to 3 investments with good long-term potential returns.
- Top source of investment opportunities for the firm in 2002. Significantly increased
visibility of Outlook Ventures in the investor, entrepreneurial, and business community.

Position: Senior Consultant – Project Lead
Time period: December 1994 - November 1998
Description: - Product Management lead for regional localization of SAP R/3. Managed a team of eight
consultants and developers, interacting with country development teams and QA to develop
enhancements to SAP. Launched customer advisory board to get early feedback and secure early pilots. Designed marketing collateral and training courses. SAP realized revenues > $10M in the first year.
- Led a team in a logistics re-engineering project for the largest brewery consortium in Peru. Redesigned and optimized purchasing, resource planning, materials management, and inbound logistics processes. Estimated savings of $7M in the first year.
- Planned, designed, and implemented Executive Information Systems (EIS) and Business
Intelligence (BI) systems for one of the largest corporate holdings in Argentina, including more than seven companies in several different industries.
