| Description: | - Mini project Title: “Stirling engine”
Brief Overview Of The Project : The Stirling engine has the potential to be much more efficient than a gasoline or diesel engine. Stirling engines are unique heat engines because their theoretical efficiency is nearly equal to their theoretical maximum efficiency, known as the Carnot Cycle efficiency. The key principle of a Stirling engine is that a fixed amount of a gas is sealed inside the engine. The Stirling cycle involves a series of events that change the pressure of the gas inside the engine, causing it to do work. Stirling engines are powered by the expansion of a gas when heated, followed by the compression of the gas when cooled. The Stirling engine, like most heat-engines, cycles through four main processes: cooling, compression, heating and expansion. Since the Stirling engine is a closed cycle, it contains a fixed quantity of gas called a "working fluid", most commonly air, hydrogen or helium. - Main Project Title: “ Effect Of Geometrical Parameters On HT And Pressure Drop In Plate Fin And Tube Heat Exchangers”. Brief Overview Of The Project : In this study the influences of the changes in fin geometry on heat transfer and pressure drop of a plate fin and tube heat exchanger are investigated numerically. A CFD program called fluent is used for analysis. The segment of one teeth of fin is used in the modelling, due to symmetrical condition The results of the heat transfer, static, and total pressure drop values of ten different fins are tabulates and the normalized values of them are also given for the comparison of the models. It is observed that placing the fin tube at down stream region affects heat transfer positively. Another important result of the study is that increasing ellipticity of the fin tube increases the heat transfer while it, also, results in an important reduction in pressure drop. |
