Description: Brooktrout (NASDAQ: BRKT), a pioneer in PC-based voicemail and computer-based facsimile, and exclusive supplier of Merlin Mail voice systems to ATT/Lucent, manufactured systems and provided enabling technology that married computers with telephony and IP networks to deliver best-of-class solutions. Founded in 1984, the company grew to employ more than 400, with three centers of product development, and international sales and support organizations in four countries.
The company showed operating profit for 11 of its 13 years as a public company. Brooktrout was sold to private investors in 2005 for $175 Million.

· Industry and technology leader. Developed key international standards for controlling
fax modems and carrying fax transmissions over IP networks.
· Performed technical due diligence and led technology integration for corporate
acquisitions. Integration included software re-use, hardware-platform consolidation,
dissemination of technical know-how, and sharing of best practices across divisions.
· Collaborated with other senior executives in developing corporate strategy and annual
budgets. Promoted portfolio management and constraint-based budgeting.
· Product Manager who assisted marketing and sales with customer visits, conference
presentations, white papers, product-direction and strategy. Provided sales support for
the 30+ Independent Software Vendors who supported our enterprise fax products, as
well as our “OEM” customers who built custom service platforms.
· Drove strategy of platform based hardware and software products and development.
· Engineering Manager of small to mid-size development teams (hardware and software,
spread across 3 geographic sites) in product and technology development.
· Sourced and negotiated the supply of key technology components and tools from
external vendors. Worked with manufacturing to negotiate competitive pricing and
foster positive relationships with suppliers.
· Identified and managed outsourcing technology partnerships, including relationships
with international partners to create products for the European, Japanese and Australian
markets. Improved Time-to-Market by more than 3 years with net savings over $5M.
