FULL BIO

Christopher Tock was previously the Director of Information Systems for the UK and Eire Council for Malaysian Students (UKEC) in 2005/06 and 2006/07 where he, alongside Wan Mohd Firdaus, helped to revive UKEC as a student movement and launched projects such as the UKEC Careers’ Fair, Projek Amanat Negara IV and the 1st Malaysian Student Leaders’ Summit. He was also previously a Communication Secretary to Imperial College Malaysian Society, as well as a representative of the Overseas Student Committee responsible for liaising between all overseas society in Imperial College, London.



Hailing from Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Christopher completed his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysian (SPM) at Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ), Mantin in 2001 and obtained straight As for A-levels in 2003 within the same institution under the KTJ Scholarship award. Later, upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Joint Mathematics and Computer Science from Imperial College, London, he started off as a freelancing IT consultant for small business companies located within London and did a complete IT makeover for JPA London before leaving back to Malaysia to embark on a set of mission objectives that makes part and parcel of his goals.



His love for sports, fun and adventure enabled him to represent West District of Seremban in Hockey for 3 years in the U-21 District championship as well as a proud receiver of the PADI Open Water Diver license. He takes interest in a myriad of hobbies including: photography, food review/adventures/trips, lion dancing (performed in Trafalgar Square) and a self-professed techie (AKA geek) at heart.



Christopher Tock is currently working as an e-Business development executive in ECM Libra Investment Bank, where he is part of a team heading the development of the online business segment within the company. During off-working hours, he dedicates his time to the Young Corporate Malaysians (YCM) as a convener, organizing the CEO Series for Young Professionals among other initiatives. He is also an active committee member of the Imperial College Alumni Association in Malaysia (ICAAM), an avid blogger at www.spinzer.us covering events and his love for food, and last but not least, an entrepreneur dedicated to the development of the leaders of the future.

- Analysed and configured networks in a short time given a new venue for each event covered.
- Contributed and implemented suggestions to improve on presentation techniques, equipments and professionalism.
- Provided technical support of all range for both internal and external clients, which includes MNC such as Oracle, Chevron etc.

Position: Communication Secretary for Malaysian Society
Time period: September 2005 - May 2007
Description: - Responsible for catering to all Malaysian students studying in Imperial College. Portfolio includes website management and handling of mailing lists, as well as other technical related jobs. In charge of general communication mediums.
- Assumed the role of Technical Director in the biggest event ran by the society, leading four teams of separate role: lighting, sounds, media coverage and film recording.

Description: - Liaised with governmental staff to coordinate events and strategies to benefit Malaysian students.
- Worked with executive team comprised of leaders from each region in UK & EIRE to run events with an average of 500 attendance, promoting cultural peace to locals and foreigners.
- Organised UKEC Careers Fair since 2004-2007, involving MNC companies (PWC, Accenture, Shell etc) from Malaysia to reduce brain drain within the country. Responsible for booking the venue, liaising with companies, creation of media goods and administration work in event organising.

Description: - Reorganized website to suit feedback from members of all nationality, thus giving a multitude of culture exposure for future benefit.
- Included new online tools for comic rentals, e-marketing and established an easy way to plan trips online, using PHP and SQL.
