Dr. Charles Zhou is a scientist and entrepreneur. He received his Doctor of Science from MIT in 1991. He won numerous research awards and grants in quantum dots and medical instruments during and after MIT. In 2001, Dr. Zhou founded Quantum Intelligence, Inc. He was one of the principal investigators for the Bio-Spice program funded by DARPA and collaborated with more than 200 scientists from 20 universities and national labs. He pioneered a new field of Computer Assisted Strain Construction and Development Engineering, or CASCADE for short, and applied CASCADE to defense, pharmaceutical and bio-tech industries. After chairing the Science and Technology Committee of MITCNC, he started to commercialize the CASCADE technology that provides the basis for the bio-energy work being done by Cascade Clean Energy in Silicon Valley, California.
He also conducted research and development at IBM and at Intel from 1995 to 2001. He was a principal consultant and technical marketing manager at IBM for over 30 customers and partners in life sciences, bioinformatics and ecommerce. While at Intel, Dr. Zhou pioneered using data mining to improve microchip yields and made important contributions. Currently, Dr. Zhou is also a visiting professor at Nanjing University of Technology.
