FULL BIO

Dr. Joshi is an accomplished inventor and entrepreneur whose expertise is incubating basic scientific discoveries into commercial products. Dr. Joshi focuses his consulting practice on the alternative energy/clean tech sector. For Owl Power Company, he developed a business plan around their technology to recycle waste vegetable oil into electricity, recruited key members of the management team and successfully helped them raise their first round of funding to launch the company. He has also provided advisory services to an ocean wave energy company, a microbial fuel cell company and mentored an MIT-based company to a second place finish in the 2008 Ignite Clean Energy (ICE) business plan competition. In addition, he has operational and management experience from starting and running a technology-based company. With both a strong technical background and operational experience, Dr. Joshi is able to build bridges and promote teamwork amongst all functional areas of technology-based enterprises.

Previously, as Founder and President of Energen, Inc. he built, trained and mentored a
product development team that created and applied proprietary “smart” materials to
precision positioning, vibration and fluid control. Through creative financing, he raised over
$7 million for product development and established an ISO9001-certified enterprise that
is licensing its accrued portfolio of intellectual property to companies in the automotive,
aerospace and industrial controls markets.

At American Superconductor Corporation, Dr. Joshi managed a team of engineers and
scientists than applied superconducting technology to increase the efficiency with which
electrical power is generated, delivered and consumed in industrial and commercial sectors of the economy. Working closely with senior management, business development and sales, these programs delivered prototype products on-time and on-budget with performance that often exceeded customer requirements. For the company management, he coauthored a Business Plan which established the company strategy for commercialization of superconducting motors.

Earlier, Dr. Joshi was with Thermo Electron Corporation where he was lead engineer for
several projects that utilized fluidized bed technology to improve the efficiency and
product quality in energy-intensive industrial processes. He conducted feasibility studies
for industrial thermal processes, and co-generation systems.

Dr. Joshi holds engineering degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a registered Professional Engineer. He is
the author of over 50 peer-reviewed technical papers and inventions and is active within
the entrepreneurship and technology community in the Boston area.
