Description: CSD focus on building value-adding partnerships. Through our network of associates, we ensure that our clients have access to the most relevant basket of skill sets to address their needs. We are fortunate to have built a wide and multi-disciplined network of partners. Most of the projects listed above, have been performed in partnership with some of our associates.
Through the 9 years at Naspers, Carel has always fulfilled a facilitating/consultation role, inside and outside the division (NBD). He has assisted various group companies in facilitating strategic planning, marketing strategies, restructuring, capacity building and more importantly supported them in the practical implementation of these plans and strategies (normally the phase that falls by the wayside). He was a management consultant (with the SBAB) and decided to utilise those skills, supported by practical experience gained over the past 10 years.
He focuses on the effectiveness of strategy communications between the executive and their teams, personnel, customers, shareholders/creditors and community to ensure achievement of objectives and bottom line. He strongly believes that sustainable business is about people (the relationship between various stakeholders) and they deal with each other only through communication.

Description: The SBAB (Small Business Advisory Bureau) was a department of the Dti hosted at the Business School on the campus of the Potchefstroom University. The SBAB employed 45 SME consultants, offering industry specific consultation support through industry experienced, professionally trained consultants.
After 18 months as a management consultant, Carel was promoted to divisional manager. The changes in SME development policy at the Dti required the SBAB to adapt their approach to market realities. Carel assisted in the formulation of new marketing strategies, organisational alignment and performance management and related rewards.

Description: As the only person in SA with a combined qualification in B.Com and Journalism, Carel was appointed to assist in the publishing of the Entrepreneur. During his time at the magazine, it was converted into a DTP produced, commercial entity carrying advertising and were distributed to subscribers and though CNA.

From 1987 he produced Entrepreneur in a fully-fledged DTP publishing set-up (as a one-man show), utilising Aldus PageMaker on PC (still a very new concept in SA at the time).
