WORK EXPERIENCE

Employer: Stanford University
Position: Student Compost Coordinator
Time period: January 2010 - Present
Description: I work with the management of an on campus eatery to maximize the efficacy of their
composting program. My contributions include designing signs to motivate the public to
compost their waste as much as possible and educate them on how to do so, conducting
personal outreach with customers, and assessing inventory of composting materials.

Employer: sustainablechillin.com
Position: Co-Founder and President
Time period: June 2009 - Present
Description: Sustainable Chillin – sustainablechillin.com
My brother and I started Sustainable Chillin to raise awareness of current environmental
issues in our quest to have the green movement further permeate society. The company
strategically uses the sale of 100% organic cotton t-shirts as an environmental education
tool. Each of our four designs addresses a different environmental issue. I created a
handout for each design (these are printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper
with soy-based ink and placed in biodegradable sheet protectors) which elaborates how
people can address the issue at hand in their daily lives. Before purchasing the shirts,
consumers must sign a pledge that they will actually read the handouts and work to
become a more sustainable “chiller.”

Employer: Stanford University - Geokids
Position: Teacher
Time period: April 2009 - Present
Description: I work to instill environmental interest in the minds of first graders by teaching them the
fundamentals of Earth Science including the classification of basic rock types, the
formation of fossils, the role of minerals, and the importance of soils.

Employer: Theta Delta Chi Fraternity, Stanford University, Stanford, CA
Position: Green Living Coordinator
Time period: October 2007 - Present
Description: Work with the officers of the fraternity to reduce environmental impact and spread environmental awareness.
Send out weekly “Green Challenges” to educate fellow residents on cutting down their environmental footprint.
Led house to 2nd place finish in the 2008 Conservation Cup (an annual contest in which students compete to reduce water and electricity usage).

Employer: Nixon Elementary School
Position: Teacher
Time period: September 2009 - February 2010
Description: As a teacher for the Real Science after school program, I lead student groups through
science experiments which are aimed to invoke curiosity and work toward a better
understanding of the natural world.

Employer: The United States Department of the Treasury – Washington, D.C.
Position: Intern
Time period: January 2009 - March 2009
Description: As an intern in the Western Hemisphere International Affairs Office, I was able to
witness Treasury’s response to the financial crisis and Obama’s transition period first-
hand. At Treasury, I drafted a memo to brief the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) on
how to improve an initiative to increase small business lending throughout Latin America,
worked on preparations for The Summit of the Americas by helping a desk economist to
brief the American Ambassador on economic language for the declaration and consulting
with desk economists in the office regarding Treasury’s input for Obama’s Energy
Partnership for the Americas Initiative, read and commented on IDB and World Bank
Project Reports for initiatives throughout the hemisphere regarding both economic and
environmental sustainability, created end of the day market reports and weekend news
updates to send to the DAS, and drafted a memo on environmental components of
stimulus packages throughout the Western Hemisphere for the office of Energy and the
Environment.

Employer: Peter Caradonna Architecture and Planning, East Setauket, NY
Position: Architecture Intern
Time period: July 2008 - September 2008
Description: Helped with LEED consulting and visited multiple construction sites.
Attended meetings with various stakeholders including the Energy Director for the Town of Babylon, NY for a project to build affordable housing in a local, run-down neighborhood.

Employer: Green Campus Program – Stanford University
Position: Intern
Time period: December 2007 - December 2008
Description: As an intern working with The Alliance to Save Energy, I met with campus stakeholders –
housing, faculty, etc. - to implement programs to make the campus more energy efficient.
During the program, I led a campus wide lighting audit and oversaw the implementation of
my proposed changes. Additionally, I served as a contributing writer to “A Student’s
Guide for Sustainable Living at Stanford.” I also initiated a fume-hood education
campaign to promote energy conservation among my peers which was continued by a new
round of interns. As the Team Manager, I helped my fellow colleagues to work in the most
efficient way possible and was responsible for keeping the Director of the program
informed about our progress.
