| Description: | When I started my college study in science, my plan was to become a researcher in academic laboratories. Learning sciences was and is still very exciting. But during my college, to finance my own studies, I developed a business based on teaching sciences and coaching students who prepared the very hard exam of the medicine college.
This field (in France) is very competitive. Lot of schools dedicated to support medicine students or freelance teachers share the market. After 6 years of this business, we get 10% of the total sales of this market (of my city), with only a team composed of 5 teachers! Our school had nearly 200 students per year, and we obtained also the higher rate of students who succeed and were accepted to continue into the 2nd year of medical studies (Success rate in our school: 88% vs. 60% in our competitors). One of our successful innovation was to offer to our students an original "coching + teaching" combination. Most of our students are now physician, surgeon or dentist, and we are still in relation and friends. More important, I had fun to do this job, to plan and to operate our “guerilla“ strategy (storytelling, street and buzz-viral marketing) ! This activity is in part the cause of my desire to change my scientist career. I learned that business world and entrepreneurship are exciting! |
