- Project at IIT Kanpur - Development of a Website for Bhagvadgita
I was involved in R&D of a website for Bhagvadgita, attempts to harness modern technology to make one of the most ancient sources of wisdom in the world accessible to the contemporary reader, in multiple languages along with audio.
The site was originally developed using Client-side scripting (Java applets, JavaScript, HTML and file system and worked only on windows) and had its own overheads, I have worked on re-engineering of site using server-side scripting (PHP, MySQL, Dynamic fonts) and made it available for all platforms (Windows, Unix, Mac). During the development, I did research on various available technologies, audio and Indian language font related issues. I have also worked on On the Fly Transliteration and ISCII Search Engine for Devanagiri. The same methodology was adapted for bringing other historic, cultural and medical (http://bimari-jankari.mla.iitk.ac.in) contents online.
