Position:
Coordinator
Time period:
January 2008 - December 2009

As coordinator for the algal/Blue biotech area I reported to R&D departments and to the Business Development and Acquisitions (BDA) department. I was responsible for communication in this area within Novozymes, and with potential external collaboration partners with whom I also worked out CDAs and other collaboration contracts.
The algal/Blue biotech coordinator position was afforded to me based on an identified need for further investigation of the 3th generation algal biofuels potential. The focus was/is within commercial aspects and future positioning for Novozymes within the algal area.
Experimental lab work investigating a possible role for enzymatic lipases in algal biodiesel formed the basis in my master thesis. This was directly related to the algal/Blue biotech coordinator position.
The coordinator position allowed me to participate in the Algal Biofuels Technology Roadmap Workshop, which was hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). The technology roadmap workshop was held to stimulate the development of commercial algal biofuels, and allowed me to meet the top scientists, government and business people in this area.
