Over the last 20 years, she has served as executive-level counselor and press secretary to top elected officials including two Governors of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and two Puerto Rico Resident Commissioners.
A Washingtonian for 20 years and graduate of Georgetown University, Ms. Carrión-Geigel gained extensive experience in the government affairs field while working in the US Congress, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the White House Conference on Small Business (WHCSB). This experience led her to serve as the primary liaison to congressional offices and government agencies for several clients resulting in their testimony in front of congressional committees. Ms. Carrión also managed the federal affairs office for two Puerto Rico Governors, overseeing the management of $5 billion in federal funds received by 60 agencies and 78 municipalities, and advising the Governor on public-policy issues related to Federal legislation impacting Puerto Rico. In addition, she oversaw an operational budget of over $7 million while working at the Puerto Rico Governor’s Washington office, successfully achieving a 32% budget cost-reduction plan, and supervising over 50 employees in nine offices across the U.S.
A public communication master’s degree graduate, Ms. Carrión also has extensive experience in the communications field. She has successfully conceptualized and implemented national and local media outreach campaigns for clients like the Research Institute for Small and Emerging Business, Inc.; Whitman/Walker Clinic; Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute; Greer, Margolis, Mitchell, Burns & Assoc.; U.S. Department of Labor; and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
