ABOUT US

The Competition is being sponsored by Delta Chapter Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is National Business and Professional Women's Sorority (www.iota1929.org). In April of every year we celebrate our National Business Month Celebration. During this celebration we recognize an outstanding business woman, man and firm as well as outstanding community leaders who have contributed greatly to our community. We have also awarded scholarships to outstanding students. As part of this year’s celebration we will be presenting our Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge Business Plan Competition and Small Business Expo.

We would like to extend an invitation to your class or group to participate in this year’s celebration. The Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge will allow youth participants to be able to compete in three areas (1) writing a business plan (2) creating a marketing exhibit and (3) a short oral presentation (Q&A) about their written work. We are also have a small business expo allowing business owners to participate as vendors; to come out and support our young entrepreneur's while giving the vendors an opportunity to showcase their products. The event will be free and open to the general public.

The program will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Friendship Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 437 Mitchell Street SW Atlanta, GA 30313-1423. I've attached the Youth Participation Guide in the event you have youths interested in participating in the challenge. Youth Entrepreneurs will have until March 25, 2011 to submit their business plan project.

This year we’ve got great gifts and prizes for participants and attendees. There will be guest speakers and a variety of activities related to youth entrepreneurship. We would also like to invite those students that are not interested in participating in the contest to attend to learn more about entrepreneurship.
