Happy New Year Start It Up Applicants, Judges, Sponsors, Members and Subscribers!
This is Christine Cerda Valadez, the Director of the recent $250k Entrepreneur Challenge in Fresno, CA!
I am sending this email to thank each and every one of you for making Start It Up such a success in 2008!
Just to give you an update...
We had over 100 applicants and over 100,000 hits to the website; along with providing over $300,000 in cash and in-kind prizes!
While remembering to support our local businesses, we utilized more than 75 of our very own local vendors for project purchases such as banners, flyers, t-shirts, hats, billboards, advertising and more!
The combined support and volunteerism of the Fresno community continues to impress me every time.
I would like to specifically thank Marion Friejsen at E Factor in the Netherlands for assisting us in distributing our information to over 40,000 of her members of which 78% are US residents! Way to go Marion! Check out Marian's website at www.EFactor.com.
I would also like to personally thank Mr. Jim Belcher for saving the day when he donated over 100,000 air miles for the flights for our applicants from Chicago and South Carolina! We couldn’t have done it without him.
Over the course of the year we will be asking you to keep us in the loop on your new ventures and findings; you will also have a chance to communicate with sponsors, judges, and other applicants from Start It Up that you may not otherwise have been able to contact!
And of course, you will also have the opportunity to talk to none other than Dr. Tim Stearns, Director of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship!
