ABOUT US
North Carolina State University is at the forefront of the effort to incorporate entrepreneurship into our academic fabric. We distinguish ourselves by encouraging multi-disciplinary participation on every level – faculty, staff, industry and outreach partners, and most importantly, students. Our desire is to build a community both within and beyond the university that thrives on creative, immersive entrepreneurial experience. In July 2008, in response to Chancellor James Oblinger’s call to “develop an educated and entrepreneurial work force,” the Entrepreneurship Initiative was formed with Dr. Tom Miller as its executive director. A small group of faculty and staff spent a day dreaming big: Students and faculty from all over the university coming together; an Olympics-style entrepreneurship competition; a career fair; a mentor and alumni network; a trip to China; K12 outreach; and a state-of-the-art facility.
