  • 1. Last minute guide: What to submit to EMC 2009 and how...

    Still having some last minute questions about what to hand in and how to do it...?

    Here's what you have to do...

    What to hand in:
    Your description (max 2 pages text) of your great new idea of tomorrow's cool mobile service.
    2 pages is excluding cover page (optional) and images/illustrations (optional).
    Please save your document as a PDF. If you can't save your text as PDF, a Word document will also do fine.

    Submit instructions:
    You can submit your entry at submit@mobilecup.se. You have to specify the following:

    1. user name (user name attained at registration)
    -If you haven't been able to register at www.mobilecup.se, just write your Full name, School, Mobile Phone Number and Contact Email.

    2. category (visit Rules and Guidelines for information)
    -In the first round of the competition you will have to submit a 2 page description of a new idea, plus sketches or technical specifications (in English). Upload your PDF at mobilecup.se.

    The following main categories are open for submissions:
    - advertising
    - business, e-commerce and ticketing
    - entertainment (art, games, music and sports)
    - news, media and e-learning
    - social networking

    Enter your idea in the category where you think it fits best. You will be able to change the category when you submit to competition round 2, if you change your mind of which category that best describes your idea.

    3. project name (choose and use a name for your project)
    -Give your idea/project nice a name. The name will be public if you are selected as a winner. So make it a attractive and exciting name. You can change the project name before competition round 2 if you come up with a new better project name.

    4 round (specify which round or rounds your entry applies to)
    -Right now everyone's submitting to "Competition Round 1".

    5 participants (specify the names of all participants)
    -Do you compete alone or in a team? Write the name of your team mates, and preferably their contact information (email + mobile number) so we can contact all of you if your team is selected as winners.


    ...And don't forget to attach all files regarding the specified round or rounds!
    -Sometimes in the past people have forgot to attach the PDF file with the competition entry... And remember to attach optional files with images/illustrations if they aren't included in your PDF.

  • 2. EMC Website Login: Technical problems to login on Mobile Cup website...

    At http://mobilecup.se it's possible to register a user account, this will be needed and used in upcoming competition rounds (2 and 3). But for now you don't have any use for the user profile in order to compete in the 1st round.

    A lot of Mobile Cup 2009 contestants have mailed and called us today about problems to login at the Mobile Cup community website: http://handshake.se/mobilecup. This is probably due to a recent upgrade to a new version of WordPress (MU 2.7).

    IMPORTANT: Since we haven't been able fix the login problem before the submission deadline for competition round 1, YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE REGISTERED AT MOBILECUP.SE IN ORDER TO SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS AND COMPETE IN ROUND 1!

    FAQ about registering:
    Is the user registration at http://mobilecup.se the same thing as registration at http://mobilstart.se???
    -No, that's two different registrations:

    www.mobilecup.se:
    You should register at www.mobilecup.se in order to receive updates about the competition, and to get the login details for the Mobile Cup community website www.handshake.se/mobilecup. You will need the login later for submitting your competition entries for rounds 2 and 3 in March and April 2009.

    Mobilstart is collection of user friendly tools that enables almost anyone to build their own mobile services, with none or very little previous experience of creating/designing/programming mobile applications or services.
    Since Mobilstart is the main partner of Excitera Mobile Cup 2009, we ask that you use one or more of their tools when you create your prototypes in competition round 3. For competition round 1 you still don't need a user account at www.mobilestart.se, however we recommend that you create an account at http://mobilstart.se as soon as possible. And of cause it's free to get the Mobilstart.se account!

  • 3. 12 Hour Grace Period to submit competition entries...

    If anyone of you feel that the login problems at our community website caused you confusion and a shortage of time (due to wasted time spent on unsuccessfully trying to register or login), we want to apologize and offer everyone a 12 hour grace period to submit your ideas for round 1. This will of cause apply to all contestants in Excitera Mobile Cup 2009.

    This means that if you had to rush in order to finish your competition entry, and the wasted time affected the quality of your idea descriptions, you can go to sleep now, finish your hand-in tomorrow morning and submit it no later than 12 noon GMT +1 tomorrow (Stockholm time).
    If you already submitted your idea, you can submit an new version with (minor) changes before 12 noon GMT +1 tomorrow.
