ABOUT US
Modelled on student investment clubs internationally in the USA and UK, EIC was founded to bring the concept of student run investment clubs to the Australian student community. The test-bed of this concept is Melbourne University which is striving for international recognition with such initiatives as Universitas 21 and its brave new simplified degree structure.
There are two aspects to the EIC: the entrepreneurial aspect and the investment aspect. To foster an entrepreneurial spirit, EIC brings leading entrepreneurs to campus to discuss the key to their successes. Practical investment strategies and knowledge are largely overlooked during a student’s 15-year school and university educational path. Most students graduate and join the work force without any practical investment knowledge. Speakers invited to Melbourne University by the EIC include stockbrokers, investment analysts and share traders, they to some extent close this knowledge gap experienced by most university students. Hands-on share-market sector and company analysis and the creation of their own share portfolio (with participation in the ASX game) provide a means in which students can practically apply investment strategies.
