1. Reminder of the first club event of the academic year!
Tonight (Wednesday, September 23rd) marks the beginning of the E-club's events for the school year. The Silicon Valley Speaker Series, ArchAngel Investment Speaker Series, Abbey Pitching Competitions and more will soon be upon us! Tonight, the club welcomes new members and old to chat about their business ideas and network with like-minded folk. From 6:30pm in LT1 at the Business School, we will be listening to presentations including Nader Paidar's on Business Development in Iran, Kate Ho of StartupCafe.co.uk, and Nicola Hillhouse of Vidiowiki.com. This informal event will be followed by a drinks reception.
2. And next week...EIR sessions and the University Support Services Presentation
On Monday, September 28th, Entrepreneur in Residence, Prof. Gavin Don will be holding one-on-one meetings with interested club members to help advise them with their business needs. The sessions are free and confidential. There are a few times still available, so sign up here.
Then, on Wednesday, September 30th, representatives of the University of Edinburgh's Entrepreneurial support services will present the offerings of each of their programs. Are you confused about how best to seek money, legal advice, office space and more for your new business? Would you like to meet some of the students that have benefited from these programs? This event should be of great interest to any new student who would like to find out more about the entrepreneurship opportunities available through the university, whether in terms of a dissertation topic, an informal project or advice and support for a start-up company.
Representatives of the main organisations linked with the university which offer help and advice, will give a short presentation about their activities, including:
Grant Wheeler of the Edinburgh Technology Transfer Centre (ETTC)
www.ettc.co.uk and Edinburgh Research and Innovation (ERI) www.research-innovation.ed.ac.uk
Rebecca Difford of the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE)
